Film Fresh Lets You Legitimately Download Popular Movies in DivX

Web site Film Fresh lets you purchase DivX downloads of popular Hollywood movies to play back on your computer or DivX-compatible device (like the PlayStation 3 or DivX-certified DVD player); the films do not expire, and they're actually legit downloads.

The catch, of course, is the price: Fresh Films purchases range from $10-$13, which isn't terrible (you do get to keep it forever, so it's kind of like buying a DVD), but it does seem a little steep, especially considering that you don't get the additional DVD perks (the box art, special features, etc.).

Still, Fresh Films is the first studio-approved DivX movie download service (it's backed by Paramount, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, and Sony Pictures, according to Mashable), and it's nice to see them moving in this direction, even if the prices are a little high. The downloads aren't entirely DRM-free, but you can play it on many different devices—it just won't work if you were to try sharing it over a peer-to-peer network, for example.

The service has a collection of some 600 films, from Hollywood picks to independent films. If you give it a go, let's hear what you think in the comments.
